September's WiNG breakfast features Joanna Dolan. Joanna is a professional editor and owner of Righting Writing. In only six years her business has achieved an international clientele. Jo has a background in banking, adult education and public relations, plus an eclectic mix of interesting side paths.
The death of her eldest daughter, Kate, in 2010 changed Jo's focus and she started to spend time working on skin cancer (particularly melanoma) awareness and prevention. Jo participates in a range of awareness and fundraising activities in memory of her daughter.
The Memory of Words
At our September breakfast, Jo will share with us her personal and professional journey, The Memory of Words.
More about Jo
Jo was born in Edinburgh, and moved to Armidale when she was only 18 months old, her father having taken up a lectureship in medieval history at UNE. In her own words, "I've been part of this area for so long now that I feel I am a local. I lived away from Armidale in my late teens and returned to Australia in my early 20s and quickly wound my way back to the Northern Tablelands."
Our Virtual Format
We will be starting at 7.30 am to allow for everyone to join and open networking with formal proceedings starting at 7.45 am. Breakfast will conclude at 8.30 am. This allows time for Q & A at the end. And we will still have time to chat and catch up informally with each other.
We will be using Zoom and you will be easily able to join from a link we email you. There is an option to join as audio-only from a phone and the instructions for this are also included in the email. We recommend you join a few minutes early for your first zoom meeting.
We look forward to seeing you.
In recognition of the disruption to local business by the COVID-19 pandemic the Chamber has waived its membership fees until 1 September. If you are currently not formally a member of the Chamber we like to invite you to take up this opportunity. We will be commencing a formal review of our pricing structure that is intended to take effect in September. We will be consulting with our membership in due course.
In the meantime, the Chamber has been proactively supporting its members and the broader business community over the last several months and is working hard to build its programs. Along with the benefits of membership you will receive, and the opportunity to inform the Chamber's future course, a strong membership assists the Chamber source funding such as grants and sponsorship so it can continue its work.
The Armidale Business Chamber's Women's Networking Group (WiNG) has asked its members to answer 3 questions in 3 minutes: 1. How has the COVID -19 affected you professionally?; 2. What are the challenges and opportunities that you have faced to date as a result?; and 3. If there was a silver lining in your current situation - what would it be?
Check out our first 3 x 3-ers, on our youtube channel here.
We'd love to hear your story. Please submit your video to WiNG program leader, Deborah Hunter via email.
